As a reader of this page, it is likely you are already a “Friend of OPARC.”  On the other hand, it’s possible you are hearing about this agency for the first time and are exploring whether it is worthy of your support.  In either case, you wouldn’t be here unless you shared our vision of a future where all people with disabilities have an opportunity to “achieve their full potential.”

This is our mission – and we work hard every day to make it a reality for more than 650 clients.  It is, however, an expensive mission.

That’s why OPARC has initiated a major effort to encourage its friends and donors to consider a “Planned Gift.”  Planned Gifts provide OPARC with increased capacity to accomplish its mission in the future.  They may also benefit donors by providing a charitable gift tax deduction and/or a lifetime income stream.

“Planned Gifts” are charitable donations that occur in the future, as a consequence of careful thought and planning, using any of a number of methods recognized and approved by the IRS.  Substantial and immediate tax savings usually result.  Some of these methods are described below.

  • You may provide for a gift to be made at the end of your life – a bequest.

  • You may name OPARC as the beneficiary of an asset you no longer need, including life insurance you purchased to benefit your family when you were young.

  • You may make a gift of cash or appreciated securities to OPARC and receive a generous stream of income for the rest of your life – possibly more than you would receive from any other type of investment.  (The older you are, the higher the interest rate we can guarantee.)

  • You may establish a trust that provides you with lifetime income and provides for OPARC’s long-term future at the end of your life.

Making a Planned Gift to OPARC accomplishes two purposes.  It assists you in your financial planning and almost always provides a current tax deduction.  (Please check with your tax advisor.)  It also benefits OPARC and provides a solid financial base to help us serve future clients.  We encourage you to consider the possibility.

I would be happy to talk with you and/or your financial advisor.  Please call me for further information.  Thank you.
