OPARC is known in the field for its success in finding jobs for individuals and ensuring their success through ongoing training, guidance, and supervision. Through a variety of programs, OPARC helps people develop job skills based on the type of employment they seek. OPARC then provides job coaching and training on soft skills such as work ethics, punctuality, interviewing, and interacting with co-workers.

In conjunction with their Person-Centered Plan, we conduct an assessment of their natural skillset and interests and help them find the best-fitting employment options for their unique needs and abilities. This might include a short-term paid internship with a community business which often leads to permanent employment. For others, it may mean direct placement with a community business. Many individuals may find working in the community as part of an OPARC group to be the right choice. Still others may enjoy doing packaging and assembly in the Work Activity Program.

As people gain experience and skills, these options are re-assessed and if a different program has become a better fit for them, their employment choices may be changed.

We offer it all.

See the person, not the label.

Work Activity Program (WAP)

Work Activity Program (WAP)

Individuals receive vocational skills training, paid work experience, and individual case management services. Every single day, the team helps the individual take steps toward reaching their goals and measuring their progress. As progress is made plans evolve and goals change.

Supported Employment Program (SE)

Supported Employment Program (SE)

People work in an integrated community environment and receive specialized services to overcome identified barriers to successful employment in the least restrictive setting. Small groups of 3-5 participants work in the community with the assistance of OPARC Job Coaches.

Independent Placement

Independent Placement

This can include both short-term paid internships and direct-hire placements with local businesses. Individuals work with an OPARC Job Developer through the interview and hiring process, and an OPARC Job Coach continues to support them through their placement.
