
Independent Placement supports participants in finding meaningful, competitive employment in the community. Our skilled Job Developers work one-on-one with individuals to build resumes, strengthen interview skills, search and apply for jobs, and secure positions that match their strengths and interests.

Once a participant is hired, support does not stop there. Strategic Job Coaching is provided for based in need to help them learn their role, adjust to workplace expectations, and succeed on the job long-term. Coaching is flexible and can be delivered in person, online, by phone, or through text, based on what works best for the participant and employer.
This program is ideal for individuals who are ready for greater independence, want to develop their career path, and can benefit from customized support as they transition into competitive employment.
The person is paid the same as any other person hired by that employment site. Wages may start at minimum wage, but many begin well above.
People can work and still keep benefits, but the details depend on which benefit(s) you have. Working usually
doesn’t automatically stop Social Security right away. Most programs have rules that let you work and keep at least some benefits. The best next step is to talk with a benefits expert—often called Work Incentives Planning and Assistance (WIPA) at the Department of Rehabilitation—so you get a clear answer for your situation.
